Double-click the My
Computer icon

Double-click the Dial-up
Networking icon. (If you don't have this icon, see Dial-Up Networking
Instructions.)

If you already have a Dial-Up
Networking connection, double-click on the Make New Connection icon.
If you have never run Dial-up Networking before, you will see Dial-Up
Networking Wizard

Type in New Ulm Telecom
for the name of the computer you want to connect to

For the next step, the name of
your modem should already be displayed. If it isn't, consult your Windows
system documentation for information on how to set up your modem for use
with your Windows Operating system. Click Next

Type in the appropriate access
number
New Ulm: 233-4235
Springfield: 723-7235
Sanborn: 648-7235
Redwood Falls: 627-4119
Aurelia: 434-0600

Click Next
-
Click Finish
-
Single-click the newly
created dial-up icon using the right mouse button and select
Properties
-
In the phone number section,
make sure the Use Country Code and Area Code option is NOT
checked
-
If you have call waiting,
enter 70#, in front of the access number (seven zero number-sign
comma space. i.e., 70#, 233-4235 for New Ulm)

Click the Server Type
tab
-
The Type of Dial-up server
should be set to:
PPP:
Internet, Windows NT, Windows 98
-
In the Advanced Options
section, make sure that only enable software compression is checked.
Uncheck any other options in the Advanced Options section.

In the Allowed Network
Protocols section, TCP/IP should be the only protocol enabled.
Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible and NetBEUI if they are checked

Click on TCP/IP
settings
Make sure
Server Assigned IP Address is selected
Make sure Server Assigned Name Server Addresses is
selected

For the Primary and Secondary
WINS configuration, leave them at 0.0.0.0
Make sure
IP Header Compression and
Use Default Gateway on Remote Network are both
checked

Click OK twice
-
Double-click on the new
New Ulm Internet icon. You will be prompted for your username and password

Type in the information for
your Internet account. When typing in your username, do not include the
@newulmtel.net; simply type your Internet username

Your password will appear in
***** format. Make sure you are typing the correct username and password in
lowercase letters

Once connected, double
click on your web browser icon (likely Netscape or Internet Explorer)
and enjoy using the Internet!
